Abstract
In this study, response of a homogeneous, isotropic and linear elastic infinite medium, which includes two cylindrical cavity, is investigated when subjected to harmonic inner pressure. Equations of motion that is written based on Newton’s second law and then Navier’s equations are derived using constitutive equations for homogeneous, isotropic and linear elastic medium. Coupled equation of motions is reduced into two wave equations by use of Helmholtz potentials in polar coordinates. These reduced wave equations are solved by using the multiplication series of the Bessel and the trigonometric functions. Unknown coefficients were calculated by applying boundary conditions on the cavities. Mathematica software is used to reach the numerical solutions. Variation of displacement and stress components on cavities inner surface and on the region between two cavities depending on various parameters are shown via graphics. The technique of solution and results are discussed briefly.
