Tectonics of the East Anatolian-Caspian regions

Abstract

The geologic evolution and tectonic framework of the region that is bordered by the Arabian platform in the south and the Precaspian depression in the north is not yet fully understood. The main reason is that the region represents a tectonic knot where multicollage structures consist of the products of succeeding orogenic events which, in turn, resulted from the development of the Uralide and Tethyside orogenic belts.
