Impact of Family Crowding on the Design Problems of Dwelling Units within Turkey

Abstract

The concept of crowding is examined within the context of dwelling units. A review of the literature and the analysis of the surveys and case studies in some parts of Turkey are presented. A crowding model for dwellings has been developed in structuring the conceptual crowding problems and their effects on the physical setting. Influences on the sense of crowding and their effect on the adaptation or alteration processes in relation to values of density are discussed within the context of dwelling unit. Lastly the findings of the case studies from Turkey are matched with these subjects.
