Abstract

The paper treats potential flow problems around immersed bodies by transforming the direct analysis into an optimization approach. The circulation integrals around the bodies or the Kutta conditions at the trailing edges of aerofoil-type shapes are used in the construction of the objective functional of optimization. The proposed method has been satisfactorily tested against exact solutions for some symmetric flow problems.
