Abstract
Dünyadaki endüstrileşme doğada uzun süre kalan ve parçalanmayan katı atıklara neden olmaktadır. Plastik atıklar en dikkat çeken katı atıklar arasındadır. Plastik atıkları, ortadan kaldırmak ve geri dönüştürmek de maddi ve çevresel problemlere yol açmaktadır. Bu atıkların beton içerisinde kullanılması çevresel kirliliği azaltmanın yanında betonun mekanik özelliklerini de iyileştirilmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda geri dönüşüm sürecinde yıkama ve kesme işleminden geçen atık polietilenin, hacimce %0, %0.2, %0.5, %0.8, %1 ve %1.5 oranlarında betona katarak, betonun basınç dayanımı ve eğilme dayanımı deneyleri yapılmıştır. Betona plastik atık katılması, eğilme tokluğunu önemli ölçüde arttırmış, basınç ve eğilme dayanımını biraz düşürmüştür. Uygulamada, betonun basınç dayanımındaki düşüş öngörülerek tasarım yapılırsa, sorun oluşturmaz. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre plastik atıkların beton içerisinde lif olarak kullanılabilirliği görülmüştür.
Industrialization in the world causes long-term and non-degradable solid wastes in nature. Plastic wastes are among the most striking solid wastes. Removing and recycling plastic waste also leads to financial and environmental problems. The use of these wastes in concrete aims not only to reduce the environmental pollution but also to improve the mechanical properties of the concrete. For this purpose, compressive strength and bending strength tests of concrete were carried out by adding waste polyethylene plastic which has passed washing and cutting process, in volumetric proportion of 0%, 0.2%, 0.5%, 0.8%, 1% and 1.5% by volume. The addition of waste plastic increased the flexural toughness of the concrete significantly while a small decrease in compressive strength and flexural strength was observed. In application, the decrease in compressive strength can be foreseen and compensated, thus would not be a problem. According to the results obtained, plastic waste can be used as fiber in concrete.
