Kandilli Rasathanesi Yerleşimindeki Korunması Gerekli Kültür Varlıklarının Envanteri Ve Dürbün Binası Restorasyon Projesi

Abstract

Çalışma kapsamında astronomi bilimi, ilk rasathanelerin gelişimi, dünyadaki ve ülkemizdeki tarihsel nitelikteki rasathane yapıları araştırılmış, Kandilli Rasathanesi ve öncüsü kabul edilen Rasathane-i Amire ile ilgili arşivler taranmıştır. Kandilli Rasathanesi’ndeki bilim mirası ile ilgili geliştirilecek koruma yaklaşımının oluşturulması amacıyla astronomi mirası kavramına değinilmiş, bu konuda daha önce yapılmış olan çalışmalara yer verilmiştir. Rasathane yerleşiminde yapılan envanter çalışması, belge, yayın ve rasathane personelinin aktardığı bilgiler ışığında değerlendirilmiş, Kandilli Rasathanesi’nin kuruluşundan itibaren gelişim süreci çözülmeye çalışılmıştır. Kurum, Kandilli Rasathanesi ve Deprem Araştırmaları Enstitüsü ismiyle çalışmalarını sürdürmektedir. Belge araştırmaları ve yayın taramaları sonucunda edinilen bilgiler ışığında Dürbün Binası için yapı ölçeğinde bir koruma önerisi oluşturulmuştur. Bu amaçla yapının rölövesi hazırlanmış, gözlem amaçlı üretilen teknolojik öğeler detaylı biçimde belgelenmiştir. Mevcut verilerle yapının ilk halinin restitüsyonu hazırlanmıştır. Çalışmanın son bölümünde, ülkemizdeki modern astronomi ile ilişkili en önemli yapı olan Dürbün Binası’nın, 19. ve 20. yüzyıl astronomi çalışmalarına dair bir belge olarak korunmasına yönelik restorasyon projesi hazırlanmıştır. Yapının, işlevini halen devam ettirmesi ve bulunduğu alanın doğal ve kültürel potansiyeli göz önünde bulundurularak, astronomik gözlem pratiğini devam ettiren ve bu konuya ilgi duyanlara eğitim desteği sağlayacak bir kurum olarak değerlendirilmesi önerilmiştir.

In the scope of this study, astronomy, improvement of observatories and historical observatory buildings were researched, as well as Kandilli Observatory and Rasathane-i Amire as the prior of it, were investigated in archives. Furthermore, astronomical heritage concept was discussed and some important conservation experiences on observatories were also investigated, in order to form conservational approaches for the scientific heritage of Kandilli Observatory. The inventory study of the cultural heritage of Kandilli Observatory was reviewed with information gained from the observatory staff, publications and documents to solve the development since the establishment. The institution is continuing its studies and it is known as Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute. As the result of researches, a conservation proposal for Equatorial Telescope Building was designed. For this purpose the building was analyzed and equipments of the building, which are used for observations are documented. Restitution project was proposed to document the building in its original state. In last section of this research a restoration project for one of the important buildings of our country, as it is related to the astronomic studies of the 19th and 20th centuries, was proposed to conserve it as a document. It is considered that, the building is functional, its equipment is operational and the potential of the region is culturally and naturally on high standards. Thus, the Equatorial Telescope Building was proposed to be used as an institution, which continues observational practices, providing educational support for amateur astronomers and researchers, who are dealing with astronomical heritage.
