Abstract: Bu çalışmada Ezine-Kestanbol yöresinde faaliyet gösteren parke taş ocakları, üretim metotları ve kapasiteleri incelenmiştir. Yörede aktif olarak çalışan üç değişik ocaktan Lineasyona paralel ve dik numuneler alınarak, çeşitli fiziksel ve mekanik deneylere tabi tutulmuşlardır. Böylece yöre ocaklarında üretilen parke taşlarının fizikomekanik özellikleri ve birbirleri ile olan ilişkileri sayısal olarak ifade edilmiştir. Diğer bölümlerde ise parke taşı üretimine ilişkin çeşitli standartlar (TS, DIN, ASTM) ile, Türkiye'nin granit potansiyeli ve dünya parke taşı piyasasındaki yerine ilişkin çeşitli bilgiler sunulmuştur.
This study covers the survey of building material properties and evalution possibilities of Ezine Kestanbol region syenites. Stratigraphic and structural characteristics of this region; physical and mechanic properties of syenites; granite potential of Türkiye; description of paving stones and production technologies; paving stone quarries which are located at Ezine-Kestanbol region and their production methods; importance and competition canditions of Türkiye in worlds ' paving stone market are presented in this study. Geological Setting The 1:25-000 scale of geological map shows the following stratigraphic sequences : A metamorphic series consist of calcschists, quarztschists and micaschists aged Paleozoic (probably Devon Carbonifer). They spread out from North to South of research area, and are well observed near Beylikdağı, Hamam Tepe and 1 km. SW of Tavaklx village. Calcschists are well observed near Akçakeçili village and Haydar Tepe with main strike of N 11-25 E, trending 31-35 NW. This metamorphic rock is colored dirty white and light green. At some places they are recrystallised by the effects of intrusions and changed into marble. Quarztschists are well observed at Hamamlar region which is located at North of research area. This rocks are formed by the regional me t amor phi sm effects of the old sandstones which are kept their primary layer planes. Their main strike is NW-SE 60°, trending 35°NW. This unit shows milonitic character at some places and grey-white colored. The contact zone of micaschists are not well observed, but it's clear that they're in transition with qua rzt schists. They form light yellow and light brown rocks and consist of some small, yellow and bright mica pieces. Magma tic rocks intruded the met amorphic basement and led to some changes in the contact zones. This unit is wide spread, and represented by syenites and aplitic philones and well observed Firanli, Kestanbol, Akçakeçili, Küçükalemşah and Tavaklı. West sides of the whole mass of synitic pluton are arenized caused by alteration. Sediments of Mesozoic age are missed. During the Mesozoic, the area was partly or completely continental and exposed to erosion. Volcanics are observed at Northwest of the area, represented by andezites as lavaflows. Neogene aged sediments are represented by light yellow, white and beige coloured limenstones, sandylimestones and marl layers. The youngest unit of the research area is Quarternary sediments which can observe at Aktaş Ovasx and Akçakeçili Ovası. Engineering Geology There are three quarries operating at research area on Ezine syenite pluton. One of them is located at South of Akçakeçili village, others are located at around of Pınarbaşı village at Northeast of research area. Some parallel and perpendicular samples to lineation are taken from this three quarries to XIV determine some physical and mechanic properties of syenites and some physical and mechanic tests are applied. According to the results of these tests, it's determined that the avarage of uniaxial compressive strength is below standarts. Also the avarage of abrasion strength is below standarts. But other physical and mechanical test results are in accordance with standarts. Description of Paving Stone and Processing Methods Cubicle shape of hard stones i.e. granite, gabro with max. sizes of 15x15x15 cm. which could be use on the road construction to decoration called as paving stone. Paving stones are produce in three different sizes : a- Big paving stones (15x15x15) b- Small paving stones (10-8x10-8x10-8) c- Mosaic paving stones (4-6x4-6x4-6) Big paving stones produce by conventional (by handworking) methods whereas small and mosaic paving stones produce by spilitting machines. At the research region quarries operating for produce paving stones. These quarries and their processing methods are also presented in this study. The quarry, which is located at South of Akçakeçili village, belongs to Granit Madencilik Ltd. Co., has three different production faces. Their production capacity of big paving stones 200 t/m, small and mosaic paving stones 1000 t/m. Recently this quarry has equipped with three new spilitting machines. Isa. Madencilik Ltd. Co.' s quarry is located at SE of Pxnarbasi village. Their expected production xv capacity for İ993 is 650t/m for big paving stones, 1500 t/m for small and mosaic paving stones. The quarry, which is located at SW of Pınarbaşı village, belongs to Buray Madencilik Ltd. Co.. Their expected production capacity for 1993 is 450 t/m for big paving stones, 1000 t/m for small and mosaic paving stones. Türkiye is one of the richest country in the world in terms of hard stones and granite deposits. But it ' s very limited to sell Turkish granite blocks in domestic market and in abroad because of their unlike colours and inhomogenious textures. So the best way to have of Turkish granites is to produce them as paving stones. The export volume of Türkiye as shown below chart: XVI When we look over of our paving stone export volume, it's also very low. Reasons of this situation are as shown below a) Technologic insufficiencies b) Far to be away from the market. c) Introductry insufficiencies The main users* of paving stones are ; Germany, Belgium and Switzerland. Also the biggest suppliers of paving stones can be listed as ; Portugal »Spain, Bulgaria, Tchecoslavakia.
